Cut and Paste Los Angeles 2010 / Homer + gummi bear in a chocolate car

Homer and his giant gummi bear homie driving around in a chocolate Hershey car.

This was my test round entry for Cut & Paste 2010: Los Angeles: digital design tournament. (http://cutandpaste.com) 15 minutes to design from scratch. Made it to the finals in '09 but I didn't make it this time around. I'm still pretty happy about my piece though. And it was fun going out there for the test round. Just like last year, the test round topic was bliss! On to the next. :-)

Kevin Hart is not cocky.

Kevin Hart was in Big Boy's Neighborhood a week or two ago. Funny interview throughout but this had to be his funniest line: "I'm not cocky... but my swagger is." Laughed out loud for real. More than a week later, I (personally) still find it funny. So much so, that I had to slap this together really quick. It's not about the design though, it's about the swagger. lol Peace -vince.

Bus Stop

Location: Downtown LA.

I still have plenty of photos to edit from this shoot. I'll be posting those at my flickr when done. Stay tuned.

On a side note, I bought my first Moleskine sketchbook ever a few days ago! :-) So nice. I accidentally spilled juice on it... ermm, i mean, I purposely christened it before laying some pencil down. HAHA.

Fave Go Pencil Go Doodles

If you haven't checked out my other blog, you should take a second and look: http://gopencilgo.blogspot.com. It's been one of my bigger projects as a whole lately so it only feels right that I write about it here. Here's my personal top 3:

3. #8. Much Ado Bear: Pretty much a update of the original. Update probably isn't the right word. Let's just say it was a different approach to it. Simple sells. (posted May 28, 2009)

2. #27. Ms. Jenie. The first of a long string of portraits done. Anybody is welcome to request a doodle in the shoutmix box located at the left. I prefer more variety than a portrait of you but I don't mind them to much. The string will continue. (posted June 14, 2009)

1.
#46. Tortoise Rider Colored. My hands down favorite. It was the most fun to draw and imagine. Post-Its saved the day so I didn't photoshop them out just yet. My logo has come to life. (posted July 3, 2009)

Feels good to be able to update this blog as I've been concentrating on Go Pencil Go. It feels doubly good to look back at what I've done so far and realize that I must step-up my game a little bit. I'm going to keep this up because I just got a healthy dose of inspiration and motivation just now.

I'm currently at #77. Which is a sort of a pointy looking rabbit. Check out the Big Bear in the Forest series! Make requests! Leave comments! Go time! Go, pencil, go.

ps. in all honesty, all this post is is just more promotion for my daily doodle blog. I appreciate you reading this really I do! :-)

They're playin' bas-ket-ball!

WE LOVE THAT BAS-KET-BALL!

Just after opening day,
I want to make some predictions for this season. So here goes:

Most Valuable Player: Lebron James of the Cavs
Rookie of the Year: Derrick Rose of the Bulls
Defensive Player of the Year: Marcus Camby of the Clippers
Sixth Man of the Year: Lamar Odom of the Lakers (if he comes off the bench all season; otherwise, I'll go with Barbosa)
Most Improved Player: Thaddeus Young of the Sixers
Head Coach of the Year: Maurice Cheeks of the Sixers
(yeah, sixers have a dope team, they'll get like 5th in the east)

Western Champs: Los Angeles Lakers
Eastern Champs: Cleveland Cavs

NBA Champs: Los Angeles Lakers
Finals MVP: Kobe Bryant

So yeah, I'll come back to this very post when LAL is lifting their trophy and see if I got everything else right.

K FN G !

Here's an Oktoberfest flyer/mag ad I designed for WU. The actual final was blue, but I really prefer green. oye. oye. oye!

Right Here is Where It's At!

Today was a long day. I worked on my portfolio from right before afternoon til the late evening. And I still have a little bit to do in the morning. That's what I get for weeks of slacking and procrastination. My bed looks good right about now. Here's a picture of my desk at the studio taken with my camera phone. It's really quite a mess with all my work and projects. But you know what? If that ain't love, than I don't know what love is.

Toy Icon Project

Check out this blog: toyicon.blogspot.com

As you can with my blog, you can make comments without having any account. Give the project some much needed feedback, it'll be very much appreciated. In a nutshell, it's about displaying Hollywood's urbanism through art and designer toys.
